Undergraduate programs with additional requirements: Animation and Visual Effects, Illustration, Visual Communication Design, Recording Arts and Production, Music (Performance, Jazz Studies, Jazz Education, School and Community Settings, Theory and Composition), Music Therapy, Musical Theatre, Theatre (Acting, Design, Technology and Management) and Dance.
Application process:
Portfolios should be submitted at the time of application. For programs that require an audition or an interview, the student will apply as normal via the INTO Apply form, the application will be sent to Montclair, they will review the application and make a decision on admission to the university.
The student will receive an initial offer directly from the university for an undeclared status at Montclair along with instructions on booking an audition or an interview and paying the required (for some majors) audition fee of $50-$65.
If successful in the audition or interview, the offer will be updated to a major specific offer.

How are references collected: Provide name and contact, or can a letter be provided at time of application: During the application process, the online system will give you the option to provide the contact information of your recommenders in the recommendations tab of your application. You will also have the opportunity to add their contact information after you submit in your application portal. They will then receive instructions from Graduate Admissions on how to submit their recommendations electronically.
